EPSO-G, in accordance with the goals laid down in the National Energy Independence strategy and in other legal acts, implements strategic tasks of developing the country’s gas and electricity infrastructure, integrates into EU energy markets, and seeks to implement the goals of the Energy Union.

The operator of the natural gas transmission system AB “Amber Grid” ensures reliable and safe transmission of natural gas (transportation through high-pressure pipelines) to the consumers in the system, and the use, maintenance and development of the natural gas infrastructure. The transmission system managed by the company consists of main pipelines, gas compressor stations, gas accounting and distribution stations. AB “Amber Grid” provides services to major (electricity, district heating production, industry) and medium Lithuanian business enterprises as well as to natural gas supply companies, to which the company provides natural gas transmission services. The company implements the project of the gas interconnection between Poland and Lithuania (GIPL) and actively participates in the creation of the single gas market in the Baltic region. In addition, AB “Amber Grid” controls 66 per cent of shares of the Lithuanian natural gas exchange operator UAB “GET Baltic”. The long-term goal of UAB “GET Baltic” is to become a natural gas exchange that operates in the Baltic states and creates value for the economy of the entire region.

The operator of the electricity transmission system AB LITGRID ensures reliable and safe transmission of electricity, maintains the high-voltage electricity transmission grid, manages flows of electricity and maintains the stable operation of the energy system of the country. The activity of the company – transmission of electricity – is an intermediate step between electricity production and distribution to consumers. Last year, AB LITGRID implemented strategic electricity projects – the power link with Poland “LitPol Link” and the underwater power link with Sweden “NordBalt”. In addition, AB LITGRID implements the project of synchronisation with the grid of Continental Europe (GCE). Synchronisation will fundamentally alter the situation of the Baltic states region – the Baltic states will become fully-fledged participants of the European electricity system.

“Baltpool” is the operator of the Lithuanian energy sources exchange that has the right to organise trade in biofuel products. One of the most important strategic tasks of the company is to promote competition on the market of energy sources. The company administers the funds of public service obligations (PSO): collects, pays, and administers them.
