Modernisation of gas compressor stations

Project information

To modernise technologically outdated equipment, optimise the operation of the transmission system and comply with increasingly stringent environmental requirements, Amber Grid launched the Panevėžys Gas Compressor Station modernisation project in 2025. As part of the project, the existing compressor units will be replaced with new ones, and the station will be equipped with modern gas transmission equipment and associated facilities that comply with the requirements of the Green Deal. The new technical solutions will ensure the stability of existing infrastructure capacities and create conditions for their further development.

In response to the need to reduce technological and fuel costs as well as GHG emissions, Amber Grid initiated the Jauniūnai Gas Compressor Station modernisation project. By the end of 2026, a new electric compressor unit with a capacity of up to 5 MW and all necessary infrastructure is planned to be installed at the station. Following the implementation of the project, the station’s operational reliability will be ensured by the existing two 11.5 MW gas-powered compressors and the new electric compressor unit with a capacity of up to 5 MW. The project will reduce transmission costs and ensure more efficient use of compressor equipment.
